By-laws of The Christian Sport Bike Association (CSBA)

ARTICLE 1 – MISSION

The Christian Sport Bike Association is a service organization committed to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and to the spiritual needs of our fellow motorcyclists.  We are a group of Christians who enjoy motorcycling, but more specifically, sport bikes.  The Christian Sport Bike Association will endeavor to assist its members fulfill the preaching of the Holy Gospel to spread the "Good News".

 

ARTICLE 2 - OFFICE

The principle office of "CSBA" shall be at 150 Mill St, Montour Falls, NY 14865.  The Association may also have offices at such other places around the world when they open.

 

ARTICLE 3 – PRELUDE TO MEMBERSHIP

We declare Jesus Christ as the Head of our organization, the Holy Spirit as our power and the Word of God as our guide.  The CSBA is open to all Christians regardless of sex, race, creed or denomination, provided the applicant believes:

1.  In the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.  Matthew 1:23

2. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.  John 3:16

3. Jesus lived a sinless life.  2nd Corinthians 5:21

4. Jesus' vicarious death on the cross was for the sins of the world.  John 1:29

5. Jesus was bodily resurrected on the third day and now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for

     believers.  1st Peter 2:23

6. Jesus will come again in the future for His church.  1st Thessalonians 4:16-17

7. Jesus is the only name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.  Acts 4:12

8.  We believe, The Bible to be the unerring Word of God and our sole rule of faith. 2nd   Timothy 3:16-17                                       

 

 

 Article 4 – Membership

 

1.  FULL MEMBERSHIP

A.)  Members need not own or ride a motorcycle to be a member.  Members should have an interest in the

       CSBA, its purpose, and sport motorcycling.  All brands of motorcycles are welcome.

B.)  To become a member you must first qualify for membership and then you must pay the annual dues.

C.)  A member may participate in all club functions.

D.)  A member has the right to vote on any club issue at any meeting where a vote has been called.

E.)  Only full CSBA members can hold CSBA offices.

 

2. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

A.) An associate member is one that qualifies for membership and has paid the associate member club

      dues.  An associate member is associated with a full member living in the same household.

B.) An associate member can participate in all club events.

C.) An associate member is welcome to any club meetings but cannot vote on any issues.

D.) Associate members may not be nominated nor may they hold an office in the CSBA.

 

3. MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

The CSBA will hold at least one rally annually, at a national level, where a majority of the membership can gather in one place.  Items may be presented and voted upon at the pleasure of the CSBA Board of Directors.

 

4. SPECIAL MEETINGS.

Special meetings of the CSBA may be called by the Board of Directors of the association. The board shall cause a notice of such meeting to be phone called, e-mailed, or postal mailed to all members at their addresses as they appear in the membership roll book at least ten days before the scheduled date of such meeting. Such notice shall state the date, time, place and purpose of the meeting and by whom called.

 

No other business but that specified in the notice may be transacted at such special meeting without the consent of the Board of Directors present at such meeting.

 

It is inappropriate for any special meeting to be called without notification and approval of either the President or the Vice President or both.

 

5. MEMBERSHIP DUES.

A.) The membership dues cover the right to use the advantages the club provides its members.

B.)  Full Membership dues are $30.00 per year, payable when a member joins the club, payable annually.

C.) Associate Membership (others living in the same household as a full member) dues are $10.00 per year,

      payable when a member joins the club, payable annually.

D.) Dues are due each year at the day membership started.


ARTICLE 5 – PURPOSE

The purposes for which the CSBA has been organized are as follows:

1.  The Christian Sport Bike Association is an organization tending to the spiritual needs of motorcyclists.

2.  There are a lot of Christian motorcyclists around the world who would like to be able to do things with other

     Christian motorcyclists. There are all kinds of motorcycle events that we can participate in as spectators or

     as participants, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

3.  The CSBA promotes fellowship and evangelism between motorcyclists, whether riders are members of

     CSBA or not.

4.  The CSBA membership will strive to know its members, to assist where possible in life’s struggles, to

      encourage one another, and to love one another as Christ loves us.

5.  The people gathered in the association will have the opportunity to talk about new products, motorcycles,

      and items of general interest.

6.  The CSBA will hold at least one rally annually, at a national level, where a majority of the membership can

      gather in one place. 

7.  Each member is, at his/her own risk, entitled to use the services of CSBA for the purpose of meeting other

     motorcyclists and share the passion of being on two wheels in service to Jesus Christ.

8.  Engage in religious activities, community charities, actions, gatherings, including, but not limited to, social

     programs designed to promote motorcycling, motorcycle riding safety, promotion of the image of the

     motorcyclist in a positive light.

 

ARTICLE 6 - OFFICES

1. OFFICES, ELECTION, TERM, AND QUALIFICATIONS.

A.)  All officers shall be elected or appointed to hold office. Each officer shall hold office for the term for which

       he / she is elected or appointed and until his / her successor has been elected or appointed and qualified.

B.)  Office holders serve at the pleasure of the Board of Directors and may be removed at any time for any

       purpose by a majority vote of the Board.

C.)  Only Full members may hold an office.

 

2. REMOVAL, RESIGNATION.

In the event of the death, resignation or removal of an officer, the board, in its discretion may elect or appoint a successor to fill the unexpired term.

 

3. BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

A.    ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT

a.   Shall preside over all meetings of the CSBA.

b.   Coordinates and provides assistance to all offices.

 

B.  ASSOCIATION VICE PRESIDENT

a.   Shall serve as President, either when the President is unable to serve, or in his/her absence. 

b.   Shall act as Web Liaison, coordinating and overseeing the maintenance of the CSBA web page.

 

 

C.   ASSOCIATION TREASURER

a.   Maintain club checking account.

b.   Shall maintain an accurate current record of the club finances.

c.   Provide regular financial statements for CSBA Board and members

d.   Pay all legally payable responsibilities on behalf of CSBA at the direction of the Board of Directors

e.   Collect all money from dues, merchandise, advertisers, or other financial supporters

f.    Reimburse CSBA members with approved club expenses.

 

D.    ASSOCIATION CHAPLAIN

a.   Provide spiritual leadership to the CSBA

b.   Provide Bible study, prayer support, and oversee the spiritual needs of the CSBA

c.   Lead in CSBA Bible Studies at designated rallies.

d.   Designated chaplain(s) are non-voting members, except in the event of a tie where they may cast a vote.

 

E.   SECRETARY

a.   Shall keep record of all minutes to board meetings where he/she is able to attend.

b.   In the event the Secretary is unable to attend, a board member shall assume this responsibility.

 

F.    BOARD MEMBERS

a.   Provide spiritual, evangelistic, prayer and administrative support to CSBA as led.

b.   Lead by example at all times to all members, being key representatives of Jesus Christ on earth

c.   Be aware of members physical, emotional, and spiritual needs communicating the same as needed to the

      Board or other members

d.   Provide prayer support for CSBA and its members and its leaders

e.   Coordinate national rallies, merchandise, activities, and other administrative tasks as assigned by the

      Board of Directors

f.    To make decisions on member expulsions.

g.   Establishing an annual CSBA budget.

h.   Approve expenditures above budgeted amounts.

I.    To have general control over all club affairs.

j.    There will be no more than 12 or fewer than 7 board members at any given time.

 

ARTICLE 7 – REGIONAL CHAPTERS

The CSBA will promote and encourage state or regional “chapters” of the CSBA to be formed to facilitate more frequent meeting of members.  Some of the possible chapter activities are as follows:

1.    Rides through the countryside.

2.    Weekend trips.

3.    Rides to participate in and/or watch motorcycle competitions.

4.    Road Rallies.

5.   Charity runs organized by other parties.

6.   Distribution of CSBA flyers, Bibles, or tracts.

7.   Bible Studies.

8.   Just plain old get togethers.

 

CSBA members are automatically members of regional chapters based upon where they live.  Someone cannot join a chapter without joining the national CSBA.  Chapters are organized by volunteers and operate within the guidelines of the CSBA Board of Directors. 

 

Chapters must:

1.   Adhere to all by-laws of the CSBA.

2.   Be open to all CSBA members regardless of location.

3.   Obtain CSBA Board of Directors approval for any planned fundraisers or major events held on behalf of

      the CSBA.    

 

ARTICLE 8 - AMENDMENTS

1.   The by-laws may be adopted, amended or repealed by the board at the annual meeting or at a special

      meeting called to amend the bylaws, which may be called no more than once a year for this purpose.

2.  All amendments to these bylaws will be written in a clear manner. All amendments will be treated as if they

     part of the original bylaws draft.

 

ARTICLE 9 - FINANCE

1.  There is a checking account in the name of CSBA.

2.  The Association President and Treasurer have check signing authority for the account.

3.  A check will require one of two authorized signatures.

4.  The Treasurer is the owner of the checking account.

5.  Each time the offices of Association President or Treasurer change, the checking account will be

     immediately changed to eliminate the check signature authority of the previous officers and to add the

     signature authority of the new officers.

6.  Any generation of revenue at a national level or at a chapter level must be approved by the CSBA Board of

     Directors.  This includes, but is not limited to, annual dues, special fund raisers, charity runs, etc. 

7.  The CSBA will purchase bibles and inspirational tools where possible, as required by the CSBA Chaplain,

     to facilitate the spread of the Gospel.

 8.  The CSBA will tithe 10% of the total dues received in a calendar year, and donate this sum to the children

      of BreakThrough Ministries in QwaQwa, South Africa.

9.  The CSBA shall hold all it’s missions equal and accountable.

 

These by-laws to be adopted by the board at the occasion of its January, 2002 meeting.

Amendments to by-laws made and adopted at January 19, 2008 board meeting. 

All changes passed and voted on unanimously with no opposition.
