CSBA membership,

At our last Board of Directors meeting, we decided to go forward with acquiring a 503c non-profit designation through the IRS. This is going to be a decent expense to get, but will be very beneficial to our organization in the end and will be well worth the initial expense. We already have at least one member who has companies waiting to make significant donations but are unwilling to do so without the non-profit status.

So, what does this mean to me?
We need our members to catch up on their dues and also consider making an additional donation to the CSBA if you've already paid your dues for the year. This will help us to fund the expenses of getting the non-profit designation. We can then receive a non-profit designation through Paypal, which will give us discounted rates for receiving dues and donations. This means more of your money goes to CSBA and less to Paypal for processing. It also means all dues and donations would be tax deductible for members and businesses who donate anything to the organization.

As a reminder, all dues and donations go to the CSBA. No Board member is paid anything for their time as this is an all-volunteer organization.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here, PM a CSBA Board member, or contact your chapter leader.

(As a side note, the non-profit designation only affects CSBA members in the United States.)

EDIT: Dues were reduced in June 2014 by the CSBA Board of Directors to $20 per member, and $10 per associate member. I just noticed the Paypal links from our homepage have disappeared. I will attempt to get that rectified ASAP. Thanks for your patience.

EDIT 2: Dues and donation payment instruction link is now at the bottom of our home page.

EDIT 3: You can now pay a lifetime member fee of $200 instead of paying $20 yearly. It's just another option that's available to all members.
