On Saturday, July 2nd, the Eastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Christian Sport Bike Association will be having it's July Monthly Ride "Dive into Delaware". We will be meeting at the Starlight Diner in Fogelsville for breakfast around 8am and the ride plans to leave around 9:15am, so please be ready. Late comers might get left, so don't be late!

One of our picturesque rides “Dive into Delaware" will start with kickstands up @ 9:15am which includes a stop for lunch at Sovana Bistro and ending up at the Wawa in Coventry township on rt. 724 near rt. 100. Come out and enjoy the roads with us. Remember all our riders are required to wear their protective gear and select their riding group (see below for details).

All bikes and beliefs are welcome, please let us know if you or any friends are coming (send them invites). Please ensure that you and any friends both read and comply with our ride policy, www.pacsba.org/join/ride-policy. Also please come to the diner with a FULL TANK OF GAS. We will not be making additional stops during the rides - just the scheduled stops approximately every 80-100 miles. There are two gas stations on either side of route 100 near the diner, so please fuel up before the ride. Thanks!

Also, please if you decide to join us for the day, select a pace and group in which you desire to ride (below on pinned post) to start the day out with - you can always change your group later - it's just to help us assign you a rider leader and group to get the day started off right. Thanks again!

We hope you can make it... Lets Ride!

CSBA Ride Report: Dive Into Delaware – July 2, 2016

We give thanks to God for his wisdom and the ability to serve and be appreciated….

CSBA Dive into Delaware Promo

It’s Ride Day and oh, what a day! With 19 strong, we were ready to enjoy the roads. The weather was perfect and with a good attendance of riders ready to hit the twisties, we started our adventure with 3 groups. We did all the pre-planning which includes performing recons on the roads to know the routes with all the pitfalls and hazards; had a good riders meeting to review the rules of the ride and road; even contacted the lunch spot and gave them our count for the day. We thought we had everything covered – at least we did for the morning…. We had our morning huddle prayer for safety, and then we suited up to start on our way.

Group F1 headed out first, with S1 (Spirited) group led by Kairi directly behind – only to find we still had people trailing at the gas station down the road for S3 (chase group) with Russ – so to make sure we all started together, the entire group pulled over on Rt100 to wait for those riders. For this reason is why we ask to fill-up your tanks before you arrive to the Starlight. There are 3 gas stations all around the meet-up location, stop first and gas up so when it’s time to leave, we can pull out on time and together.

We proceeded to our first back road turn, at which time F1 quickly launched and was not seen again until the gas stop directly across the street from the lunch location. The roads and weather were perfect for riding; the only issue was traffic – too much of it! All groups complained the traffic was just so very dense. We had several crews that came to ride with us (1 from NY and 1 from DE), with both mentioning the traffic really put a damper on their fun. Our friends up from Philly however enjoyed the slower pace, which was a total blessing (more on that later) with our NJ members rounding out the ranks.

A few of our rider leaders tried our new Garmin 765 units for group leading, with much success. These units were inexpensive and worked as designed, paring well with SINA Bluetooth helmet communicators. Our friends at our lunch location (Sovana Bistro) took extremely good care of us. Big thanks go out to Linda and her crew for treating us like royalty. They set us up on their outside area which was perfect with a gentle breeze, with extra tables for our gear, etc…

After a great meal and feeling ready for a nap, we gathered for our message (NO SECRETS FROM GOD; SO WHY THE HEAVY HEARTS?) then reset our groups for part 2 – the afternoon route.

Afternoon message – No Secrets from God

Since 4 riders were breaking off that came up to ride home to DE, groups S1 & S2 collapsed into one group led by Rusty Bucket. About 30 minutes into the afternoon is when our problems started… This ride had 2 covered bridges and 2 steel bridges. The last steel bridge of the day was a tricky one since it sits adjacent to two quick turns; a quick left turn enters the steel tube flooring and then an abrupt exiting right hander at just about 90º. Failure to pay close attention on this steel bridge on either entering or exiting could be dangerous; which it was this day, claiming one of our riders in a bad low side. Our operator went down fairly hard, giving injury to his knee, ribs and wrist. He was rushed to Christiana Hospital in DE where he was treated. During our message at lunchtime it was stressed how we are here for one another, and this event was a perfect example of that fellowship at work. The rider was never alone, and while we didn’t crowd the area, local help made provisions. Carrie (a visiting rider and nurse from Children's Hospital) was riding in that group nearby to give assistance. Thank goodness she was there to help our rider, and equally a blessing there were no traffic tickets issued by law enforcement. The full group later reconnected about 5 miles from the incident since state police, fire rescue and first responders did report timely to the scene of the accident. A team of 3 broke off from the ride group to travel home, pick up a truck to recover the downed bike and store it for later retrieval, while a team of 2 followed suit over to the hospital to be with the injured rider. The remainder of us continued the ride and ended the day with plenty of memories to hold us until next time.

As we neared the finish line on the ride, we had a full-geared rider see us and join us for the last 20 minutes of our ride. He rode with us until the gas stop, where the ride finished. We shared our CSBA ministry and riding information with him – of which he was very appreciative to receive. He seemed very excited to join in with us, so time will tell if we hear more of him in the future.

In closing, just a reminder - we’ve crafted these rides for you, our riders, to enjoy the roads with us. We’re promoting a fellowship and an environment in which we want you to come and enjoy your love of rolling on 2 with others that share your passion of riding. We keep our friend that went down in prayer and yield thanks to God for keeping that situation from escalating and from becoming much worst in many ways. Luckily he was wearing his gear, which aided in his protection. Hats off go out to all the ride leaders & sweepers for managing and doing their part, and for everyone else that helped and gave support where needed. The entire group moved and supported, as a team should, which made a bad situation tolerable. Well done everyone!

Matko was kind enough to capture some great picture of the day for us. NO SECRETS FROM GOD; SO WHY THE HEAVY HEARTS?
“You alone know the hearts of all men”
1 KINGS 8:39 NIV

We give thanks this Independence Day for Life, Liberty and the Rights to pursue happiness. For most of us, those rights also include our inner most private thoughts or secrets we carry. Some secrets are good and some not so good. Remember: God knows everything about us, even our deepest thoughts and motives. We can hide them from other people; we may even hide them from ourselves. But we cannot hide them from God.

This shouldn’t surprise us; after all, God knows everything – hence the saying, “What is done in the dark will eventually come to the light”. The Bible says this: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13 NIV). Take a moment and think back over just the last twenty-four hours at all the thoughts you didn’t want anyone else to know. Maybe it was something hurtful or mean spirited, maybe it was concerning work, your spouse or something else very personal. Now think how you would feel if they should find out - But God knows these thoughts – every one of them.

Now here’s the good news…. And its something that should both surprise and make you joyous: In spite of all HE knows about us, God still loves us! In fact, the verse above occurs in a prayer by King Solomon, thanking God for his love and forgiveness. Thank God for His grace and thank him that, in spite of all He knows about us, in Christ “He has forgiven [us} all trespasses” (Colossians 2:13).

No need to carry a heavy burden; God already knows what’s in your heart, yet still loves you without condition. That should relax you - rest in him. Seek his cleansing for your heart, and ask for his forgiveness. If you need to talk with someone, He sends us people that care and will take up arms with you with moral support and help. God intended for us to help each other – try not to burden yourself with all the weight of everything that you carry all the time. God is there to help (through others) to lighten the load. Your Brothers and Sisters are here with you and for you - seek them out, as we’re always stronger together than apart. Of course, my door is also always open - Blessings!

A good ride report and message. I was very glad to hear that the downed rider was taken care of. Sad to hear he had a spill. Keep up the good work Eastern PA chapter!
