CSBA Presents our “Day @ the Races (Track Day) | Saturday April 12th, 2014”

Come join us (www.pacsba.com) and our friends, as we do what we do; enjoy a day at the races (if the snow ever melts and it warms up of course). It's a rain or shine eventful day of exploring our limits and testing our abilities as we heat up the tires for a day of fun and fellowship with our friends and family for a "Day @ the Races (Track Day)". All are welcome.

CSBA has partnered with several key vendors to make our track day experience even more event filled. For 2014, Absolute Cycle Experience continues to be our track day provider, along with new partners (see pinned post below)

Visit our hospitality/information booth for a cool refreshment and great information from our supporters. Spend time with us as we showcase rider safety, track day hints and tip, and product information via multimedia. Experience to ride at your ability and learn to master your machine.

If you've never done a track day, do yourself a favor and get in while you can. Everyone is riding in the same direction, track is cleaned, no debris to deal with, no speed limits (baring red shirts and your ability) and best of all - great coaches and instruction to help improve your skills. We'll be cooking food, watching movies, giving praise, enjoying great fellowship and just having fun.

You don't need to have a bike to enjoy the fun - come down and hang out with us at the paddock (no charge to be our guest – just mention you’re with CSBA at the gate and we'll supply you with a spectator pass for the day). Pass the word and invite out your friends.

CSBA “Day @ the Races” is proudly sponsored and supported by our affiliates and partners (see pinned post below). Come out, break bread with us and support our mission of enjoying fellowship on two... See you there!

Race Report - April 12th, 2014 at NJMP - Thunderbolt with Absolute Racing

Opening day and it was Glorious - Praise God! Greetings and thanks are extended to everyone in attendance, with a special thanks to all our sponsors that helped make the start of our season a huge success. We also give thanks for the wonderful fellowship and blessings of protection experienced during our opening "Day @ the Races" event for 2014.

With our goal in 2014 to reach even more people for attendance and fellowship than 2013, we encouraged all our friends to come down and hangout with us at our new expanded "Hospitality Camp CSBA" tent. I'm happy (and proud to report) we saw both track riders and non-track riders come down as a show of strong support and love for our mission. Among our non-track riders that came to show their support were Deb H (AZ), Troy R (DC), Kathleen R, Mike H, Larry S (The XIII), Ron M (Immortal Riders), Jim M(J-Mac), and Ron W (Panda). Track riders in attendance where CSBA President Mark Hamm, CSBA Vice-President Bob Brown, CSBA Racing Team Leader and Chaplin Joe (Cowboy) Cotterino and his lovely wife and partner Denise, Sanal P (Immortal Riders), Back Roads Only Riders: Jason J (BROs), Bill R (BROs), Chuck K (BROs), Alan P (BROs), Martin G and yours truly (JLaSure-CSBA).

The weather couldn't have been better; we had an absolutely clear day with slight winds. Martin G provided me with rear protection, riding shotgun, following me convoy-style all the way to our normal rally point (Wawa in Millville, NJ), arriving there just slightly after 6:00am. As normal, we picked up essentials and reached NJMP Thunderbolt by 6:30a. With all in attendance and everyone pitching in the lend a hand, our triple "Camp CSBA" Hospitality tent was ready for action well in time for bike tech inspection and the riders meeting. Deb raised the flags marking the official opening of our presence by 8:00a.

"Absolute Cycle Experience" provided the opening greeting at the riders meeting and also announced and gave recognition to the CSBA organization as being a club they are partnered with, which was very nice to hear. After the rules of the track were reviewed, we chatted with Roy (Absolute owner) to gain access to our CSBA Racing team to run all sessions as coaches. Enabling this allowed our racing team to work with junior riders in all rider levels that didn't ride on just the E (Expert) level, which of course was present company included. What a blessing it was to have our own personal coaches available. With tech inspection and the riders meeting behind us, we gathered back at Camp CSBA for a standing prayer for safety given by Mark. Once complete, Bob and Joe suited up to warm up their tires with the Expert Level riders, Mark, Martin, Bill and Sanal left for intro-level class and I remained back with the BROs to enjoy fellowship at the tent with our friends and start my work in preparation for lunch (assembling the grill, multi-media setup, vendor information, etc..)

As usual, there were downed riders in the morning sessions - mainly due to cold track conditions we anticipate since we were riding on Thunderbolt, which doesn't truly get full sun on all the turns until around mid-day. We had several visitors to our tent; some took information and some just stopped by for cool drink (thanks to Pepsi) and a hot-dog. Either way, we had someone present to welcome/greet them and make them feel right at home. Shortly after lunch I finally felt comfortable to switch gears, put on my leathers and get out there to enjoy a few laps on the refreshed "Day @ the Races" bike. It was my first ride since my fall at the track last year, and I must admit I was very rusty at best. Even though I rode the previous week on the "Mother Ship" leading our "Leap into Lancaster" ride on the street, jumping on the track was a totally different animal. I was stiff, filled with anxiety and felt awkward at best. On lookers could tell I looked uncomfortable and somewhat out of my comfort zone, riding very straight up and down with virtually no head movement; a far cry from where I was last year. The good news however is I did get out there and overcame my initial fear of getting back on the track and hitting the turns. The bad news is I have a lot of work to do, which is totally fine. In the meantime, I'll make a few updates and adjustments to my machine which of course will help me regain some confidence. Additionally, I'll get back out there and continue to work on my technique, all the while still having fun and fellowship with our friends. I do have a renewed appreciation and respect for our faster and more experienced riders, no doubt - but I'm also encouraged to just be there and enjoying the energy and excitement that the track venue brings.

In our ever growing task to build on this venue and introduce more riders to controlled track day racing, we support our continued vision of what the CSBA "Day @ the Races" mission is all about: "...to enjoy a joyful spirit and fellowship with fellow riders, while always learning and testing our limits for this passion we have for 2 wheeled movement. We shouldn't be afraid to test our limits as that's how true growth in anything is experienced..." If you've never done a track day, do yourself a favor and try to get in at least one session. It will surely make you a better street rider. The pace is yours to set; grab a partner and explore.

Thanks again for everyone's support in today's ride/event and our efforts for the CSBA "Day @ the Races" venue. Come out and enjoy our next riding event which is the "Blue Mountain Run" on May 3rd, 2014. Hopefully we'll see you there! I'll post up more pictures as I receive them here and also on our Facebook Forum Page (www.facebook.com/groups/ChristianSportbike/) and at this event's Facebook Event Page (www.facebook.com/events/250977098413600/)

See you out there - Lets Ride!

Scripture for Track Day Event - April 12th, 2014

With all the excitement of opening day, we failed to have a true Scripture reading for our event, but the dedication planned was the following:

Where's the Finish Line?
I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do... (John17:4)

Lord, you are calling us to finish the race you have put before us. Lord, you have called each of us to a unique and wonderful existence. Lord, you desire each of us to finish the race and we are well aware of our limitations. We are at times full of excuses and reasons why you have thought too highly of us. Lord, give us the grace to open ourselves to allow you to once again inspire and fill us with the divine spark, your presence, and your strength, so we may run toward the finish line you set in front of us knowing that you are lifting us, even carrying us when our legs are weak, our lungs are burning, and our minds are full of excuses. Let your heart beat within us, let your prayer carry us forward and may our lives surrender to you, giving you the glory and grace to those around us!

A strong finish is always a good thing, but also how we run our race during the race is equally important. A very wise and good friend shared with me, "... lead with a promoters flair, message the word with a passion for riding, and stand on principles Christ has outlined to us as it pertains to fellowship....." as qualities to remember when running our race for leadership. We all are running a race in our quests and our finish lines are outlined with our own personal goals. As I mentioned in a previous account; No matter how fast you run your race, or how great your skills are (on and off the track), we are all created for God's purpose and should humble ourselves in our gifts and not over shadow those with lesser talent in our excellence areas. Be of good fruit and shed the bad rotten fruit.

Blessings to all!
