The morning for this ride, I got up early and prepared for the ride. The typical stuff most chapter leaders do; pack stuff, prepare a route sheet, and get geared up. It was dark the entire time I was preparing to leave. J-Mac showed up a few minutes late and the upper part of his jacket was wet. I asked if it was raining, he said no, but the fog is ridiculous. And it was, in some spots. We left about 15 minutes late, it seems that's how we roll, and made really good time. We did see the sun come up and it was bright and clear in some places. But as we got into the Susquehanna Valley near Harrisburg, it was like driving into clouds it was so thick. We went by the diner and saw that XIII was already there, so we stopped to get fuel and returned. Four people let me know they couldn't make it and one more was on his way. The three of us had a good breakfast, discussing kids, parents, illness, jobs, and of course, bikes. We then went outside and met up with Mo, who was joining us for the ride. I went over the route, discussed the rules of the ride, and did a prayer for safety. We headed out slow, because it was still foggy and cold. Once we got out in the open twisty roads we picked up the pace, but not before my first of three U-turns. (You know how I can be! ) We occasionally came across both traffic and fog, but not for long. We did have a good ride up to our lunch stop, even a spirited ride following a Mazda 3. Lunch was good, but if I had known everyone else was getting pizza, we could have split one. :) I read the the Scriptures for the day and we headed out for gas. We made another U-turn then headed south, along the way we saw two huge brick mansions as well as a black and white horse in a pasture of cows. Maybe he is an informant. ;) We also saw a lot of beautiful scenery and enjoyed a lot of really good roads. One rider got off the road and into a ditch, but only a mirror was broken off and some scratches, nothing bad. However, we did cut a bit off the ride and headed toward home. We did encounter some traffic back up on the way home and detoured around it. I will post up the Scriptures soon. This is our last scheduled ride for the year, but we may have one next month if the weather is good. Stay tuned,
