From the Servant’s Desk

I have the CSBA logo and website URL vinyl-mounted on the doors of my pickup truck. Inevitably, when I gas up or stop at a store, someone will ask me about the logo or our group.  The decision to display our association’s logo on my truck has produced plenty of witness opportunities.  It has also allowed me to explain what we’re about and what we do to people that have little or no interest in motorcycles.  When you casually discuss the CSBA a few hundred times, you stat to get a clear idea of what this organization is AND what we do.

Many of us will be out riding this month and holding Runs For The Word.  Allow me to share my feelings of our purpose in case someone at a gas station asks you:

“What is the CSBA?”

*  A group of Christian men and women joined in faith to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.

“What does your association do?”

*  We pray

*  We join together in fellowship both locally and nationally.

*  We’ve partnered with a ministry in South Africa to save the lives of orphaned and homeless children

*  We ship Bibles all over the world to people hungry for The Word of God.

*  We support each other in our walks with Jesus Christ.

“What do you people believe?”

*    The virgin birth of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:23)

*    Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16)

*  Jesus lived a sinless life (II Corinthians 5:21)

*  Jesus' vicarious death on the cross was for the sins of the world (John 1:29)

*  Jesus was bodily resurrected on the third day and now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for believers (Mark 16:9-19)

*  Jesus will come again in the future for His church (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

*  Jesus is the only name under Heaven by whom we must be saved (Acts 4:12)

Take notice that the words “sport bikes” or “motorcycles” are not mentioned in the answers of any of the questions.  After all, the bikes we value and fuss over are only pieces of metal and plastic propelled by high compression, albeit beautifully designed, engines.  But they’re just “things”.  We use the bikes as a means to gain conversation with non-believers and by so doing we might have an opportunity to witness or plant a seed.  Read and try to memorize 1st Corinthians 9:22…I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

By reminding ourselves that the bikes are merely tools, we can count ourselves truly blessed.  We’re joined together in a task mandated by Our Lord in Matthew 28: 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”  Not only are we involved in a sport we enjoy; we’re doing God’s Will!  Can it get any better?  Not until we hear “Well done good and faithful servant”.

A final note:  Please keep the CSBA in your prayers that the Run For The Word touches hearts and that some of those hearts help us ship even more Bibles this year.  Thanks

God Bless

CSBA 3rd Annual Run For The Word

August 13-14, 2005

Help send Bibles around the world to those seeking God’s Word!  Be a part of national CSBA ride!

Get an event T-shirt!

Next month marks the third year for our only annual fund raising event.  The Run For The Word is a nation-wide event where chapters and individuals raise money to fund the CSBA Free Bible Fund.  Last year, the CSBA sent 1028 Bibles to individuals and ministries that couldn’t afford a Bible.  Before you read on, consider the cost of a paperback Bible.  You could probably buy a paperback NIV Bible for five or six dollars.  Now put yourself in the place of a believer who can’t afford $5.00.  Most of us spend more than five dollars for lunch at our favorite fast food restaurant!  Don’t ignore the fact that there’s real poverty in the world.  The seeds we send out via the Free Bible Fund may be changing lives that we’ll never realize until we gather in Heaven.

Bill Allen, our Run For The Word coordinator, sent this along:

Our Free Bible Ministry has shipped Free Bibles to people all around the world. From street ministries in NYC to missionaries in South Africa, Colleges in the US, to groups, ministries and individuals around the globe, even those seeking salvation in a prison cell.
The CSBA has sent free Bibles to the USA, Africa, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Canada, Czech Republic, Ecuador, England, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Liberia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Sweden, Trinidad, Uganda, West Africa, West India, & Zimbabwe and more!

We ask for your support to continue and grow this ministry, to bring Free Bibles to the many around the world who are seeking the Word Of God and cannot afford a Bible of their own.

Like to make a RFTW presentation to your local Church but don't know what to say??
This year we're backing you up! All the CSBA and RFTW info you need is on your sign up sheet...and new this year....
We have included a sheet of special testimonials from the CSBA Free Bible Ministry.
For this year’s fundraiser, you should have all you need for a great a Run For The Word presentation for your local Church or club.

If you didn’t receive a Run For The Word Rally packet, contact Bill Allen (ba_rider2@hotmail.com) and get the information you need to have a “Run” in your area.  If you can’t participate this year, please keep us in prayer.  Thanks

And…just to give you an idea of how wide spread our annual attempt is spreading, I received the following:

“Greeting to you in the name of Jesus

I did not receive a RUN FOR THE WORD PACKET

CSBA FALL RALLY

September 30 – October 2, 2005

Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

By Bob Brown

bob@EmpireGP.com

I rode down in Pennsylvania and scouted out roads for the rally we will be riding on all new roads through several of the state parks. I have some great roads picked out, for those of you who attended last year rally; this years ride should be even better.

If you plan on attending you should make reservations soon, the hotel is filling up fast, I reserved 3 rooms with 3 beds each, cost is $67 so it is pretty cheap to stay, the hotel is nice and there is a good restaurant in the lobby.  Contact me if you are interested in staying in one of the other two rooms, contact info for the hotel is 570-724-7773

I am planning on doing a ride out of my place on Friday, anyone interested in staying here Thursday night let me know, I can accommodate 9 people.

I am thinking of doing a riding clinic on Friday for those interested in learning how to put their knee down or those just interested in working on riding skills. I am willing to donate the use of the KTM Motard for class use, it has seen pavement numerous times and seems none the worse for the wear, I don't imagine this group will do anymore harm to it than I have, a couple of things need to fall into place, I need to be able to have Russ help me out and gain access to the local parking lot for the group, If there is enough interest then I will pursue it, otherwise we will just do a sight seeing ride down to the rally area on Friday.

If you need your spiritual batteries charged, would like to see some old friends, make some new ones we would love to have you attend.

July 28, 2005
 **** GOD PROVIDED!   ****

We have good news in that we received a substantial donation towards finishing the roof on the hall.

Praise God!!

I am in the process of getting new quotes for this as the people that quoted us previously are not making trusses anymore. Because we are so remote and the road leading to the Center so steep and rutted not everybody able, are willing to do the job, but God supplied the funds so I have no doubt that we will clear that hurdle too.

We are still a bit short on completing the building, so we ask you to keep the completion of the hall in your prayers. Then it is on to finishing the first house, then the second, and then...

From Monday Pastor Thabo will be with us full-time. We are still running around like crazy people trying to find him a place to stay until we have the house on the mountain finished.

It is an exciting step we are taking as it allows us to take the first steps towards our planned church. More on that and the route God is taking us on, in the next newsletter!!

Ending on a sad note. One of the 3 year old kids at the center passed away earlier this month. According to his mother he had trouble breathing and before she could get somebody to take her to town, her child passed away.

Looking in from the outside, people rarely understand the hardship many people here suffer. To keep the cold away many either burn wood inside their shacks (house made from corrugated roofing sheets-see left) or have paraffin heaters. Both these are rough on a child's lungs and many suffer from asthma. Like the child on the mountain, many kids have asthma attacks when it really gets cold. Shacks may keep out some rain and some wind, but have very little real effect on the cold as it becomes a frozen wall of steel. Unfortunately for this child there are only one vehicle in this village, which at this time was not available. The only option to get her child to hospital was for the mother to carry him down the mountain. An 8 mile trek down a dirt road that I can only travel up on in 1st gear, i.e. a very steep incline, in darkness, so not an option.

So she had to sit praying, while her child died in her arms.   No 911, no ambulance and no one that could help her or provide support.

Please keep praying that God will help us finish the Center.

I know we could've made a difference for this child.

God Bless

I’ll be returning to South Africa October 4th through the 18th, 2005 to visit Wim & Hylein of BreakThrough Ministries.  My flight itinerary starts in Newark, NJ change planes in Amsterdam and then on to Johannesburg, SA.  If you had it on your heart to make a mission trip, this would be the one to take the plunge.  Beautiful country, staying with two of the nicest folks in South Africa, lots to do, plenty of time for fellowship and contemplation.  The memories from your experiences will last the rest of your life.

PRAYER REQUEST FROM SOUTH AFRICA VIA HOUSTON, TX

The CSBA truly has an “international” presence.  We receive emails from all over the world for Bibles and prayer.  The following email is from JOHAN OELOFSE in South Africa.  I started emailing Johan about a year ago in an attempt to set up a few days of riding following last year’s mission trip.  Time was against me and I had to forgo hooking up to explore some of the lesser-traveled roads of South Africa.  That said, I received the following email a few weeks ago:  Please keep his brother in your prayers.  Thanks

DEAR BRIAN,

AS YOU HAVE SAID ONCE IT IS STRANGE HOW LIFE SOMETIMES GO !!!!

MY BROTHER (36 YEARS OLD) IS PRESENTLY IN THE MD ANDERSON HOSPITAL IN HOUSTON FOR CANCER TREATMENT!!!! HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NON-HODGEKINSON DISEASE (NHL) ON THE 17 TH MAY 2004. HE HAD TREATMENT HERE IN SA BUT HIS OPTIONS RUN OUT IN SA SO THE COMPANY HE WORKS FOR HAD SENT HIM TO MD ANDERSON IN HOUSTON. THIS IS APPARENTLY THE BEST CANCER HOSPITAL IN THE WORLD. WE ARE VERY GREATFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY THAT HE CAN BE TREATED IN THE ANDERSON HOSPITAL.

HE IS NOW WAITING FOR STEM CELL TRANSPLANT BUT PRESENTLY THIS PROCEDURE HAS TO WAIT AS HE HAVE ANOTHER INFECTION (FLU) AND HE HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY HEALTHY FOR THE PROCEDURE TO GO AHEAD.

AS I KNOW YOU ARE A DEVOTED CHRISTIAN I WANT TO USE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK FOR YOU TO PRAY FOR HIS RECOVERY!

HERE IS AN E--MAIL HIS WIFE HAD SENT RECENTLY TO US:

Received some good news last week. The German donor agreed to go ahead, so need to do all the medical check-ups this week. If all goes well and according to plan Natie will be admitted to hospital on the 25th of June. He will then receive his full body radiation with a follow-up chemo, to destroy his bone marrow. The actual stem cell transplant will be scheduled for the 5th of July. So a courier will fly to Germany and bring the donor's bone marrow back for the transplant on the 5th. Natie will have no immunity and will need to stay in complete isolation. He will be in a glass room with the only communication via telephone, him from the inside, me on the outside. This is gonna be a tough period as he won't be able to move around, as well as the possibilities to pick up infections. In total he will be in the glass room for 1 month.

We need to pray for Natie's body to accept the new stem cells and not to reject them, as this is always a possibility. At present we are trying via all kinds of medication and very strong antibiotics to get Natie back in shape and to get bring his counts up. We have been back in hospital the past week as Natie picked up an infection and with his platelets being 4 and his white cells 0.2 it is just taking forever for him to get better. We got finally rid of the fever today so I believe he will only get better now and ready for the 25th!

 All the best

Corne.

We’re looking for witness testimonies for future newsletters.  If you’ve met someone on the road, at a show or in a restaurant and had the opportunity to talk about your relationship with Jesus Christ, we’d like to read about it.

Send your testimony in MS Word format to brianp@christiansportbike.com

Thanks
