January 2006 CSBA Newsletter
From the Servant’s Desk
Each January, we make plans to do things differently in the
coming year. We get a fresh card to
write new and different efforts from the previous year.
If you’re involved with motorcycling, winter
is THE time for planning. We plan what
we’re going to do to the bike before spring, road trips we’re going to take,
and how we’re going to do all of the things we weren’t able to accomplish last
year. The angst sets in when the desired
bike parts, and planned road trips, conflict with other…shall we say… more
domestic issues. The house needs work, the kids are involved in sporting
events, and the spouse isn’t thrilled with the idea of our hitting the road to
pursue those winter fantasies.
Don’t feel alone pilgrim, it happens to most
of us. We plan great things, but end up achieving…not quite what we had in
mind.
The author of Hebrews wrote: Therefore we also,
since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside
every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with
endurance the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:1
In our walk with Jesus
Christ, we usually plan to make the New Year different. We hope to allocate more time to prayer, read
the Bible every day, and get involved with our home church. Sometimes, as in the case of our “bike
dreams,” we fall a little short of our goals.
We have good intentions, but the rigors of our everyday lives get us
sidetracked more than we’d like to admit.
Paul wrote: Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one
receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 1Corinthians
The Lord has
generously allowed us to see another New Year begin. Don’t stop making those resolutions! In resolutions there’s hope for change. What we need to do differently, is give a
copy of those carefully written resolutions to another Christian. Now, when you stop for a bite after a morning
ride, you might be asked about your involvement your church’s activities,
or…how your daily Bible study is progressing.
Peer pressure can lead us into sin, but it can also lead us closer to the cross
of Jesus Christ.
Tell you what; I’ll send my 2006 spiritual resolutions to
anyone who sends me theirs. We can call
it “Christian cyber-pressure.” Face to
face is better, but if you don’t have a CSBA chapter in your area, I’d be glad
to help.

2006 CSBA Rallies
There will be rallies this riding season it’s just a matter of getting the details together. Here are some “For Sure” events:

Volunteer Needed
Looking for an individual (or individuals) to
manage and put together the monthly CSBA newsletter. The candidate should have some experience
with newsletter publication, MS Word, and be willing to send/receive email to chapter
leaders, the board of directors and the general membership. Having a cell phone plan that allows US long
distance airtime is a plus.
The benefits are meager. The pay is non-existent, but the successful
candidate will have the gratitude of the entire CSBA membership.
I’ve been putting the
newsletter together for six years, but a promotion at work, and my time with BreakThrough
Ministry,
has taken away my ability to get the newsletter published in a timely
manner. There are literally hundreds of
people that rely on the newsletter for accurate information each month,
especially those members that don’t have a chapter in their area. For some, the newsletter is the only link to
the CSBA.

know at: info@christiansportbike.com
CSBA WINTER MEETING
The winter meeting is a go. The numbers might be a little lower than we
hoped, but
Bill Gaston will host the weekend get-together the weekend of
Here are the tentative plans:
Spend a morning or afternoon at the International Motorcycle Show...across the street from the hotel. You don’t even have to walk outside. There’s an enclosed cat-walk from the hotel to the convention center. And there’s a shuttle from O’Hare to the hotel.
Have a speaker for Friday and Saturday evening.
Open the meeting up to all chapter leaders and members who desire to recharge their evangelistic batteries before spring.
The plan is to meet
from
Our keynote speaker Friday, and Saturday, will be Richard Smith, from Apostolic Faith Church of Chicago.
The hotel has a shuttle to the local airports, and the motorcycle show is right across the street.
It’s not too late. Email Bill Gaston at brobill@partneringsolutions.com to advise him of your last minute travel plans. Thanks
WONDERING IF THE CSBA BIBLE FUND IS EFFECTIVE?
Received from our Bible
coordinator, Bill Gray:
“Brian,
Here’s a thank you letter with some pictures from the
Bill”
“Dear Mr. Gray,
In
behalf of my husband, we would like to thank you again for the Bibles your
organization donated. We decided to distribute them during the Marriage
Enrichment Seminar my husband organized for the soldiers and their respective
wives. It was held last
I'm sending 4 photos. Three of them show my husband, Lt. Col. Emmanuel
"Manny"
Salamat, distributing the Bibles to his men. I'm the one assisting
him. (Btw, my husband is the commanding officer of this battalion.)
In the group picture, I'm the one in the salmon-colored top, and my husband is
standing behind me.
Again, thank you very much! May the Lord continue to use you and your
organization in blessing others.
Sincerely,
Clarissa Salamat”

*** NEWSFLASH ***
|
The first house now has a roof, and before
the new year we will finalize the plumbing, and some finishing touches, in
time for the team that arrives December 30th. When they leave, in mid
January, we will be able to allow the first people to move in. What a great
gift to celebrate the birth of our King!! To all those, who through the last 16
months, stood by us, prayed with us, and made donations towards the project,
encouraged us, and believed with us that we WILL get to the end of this
phase, we want to say that we appreciate it more than you could ever know. We
love you all, and pray that God will bless you abundantly. Thank you
for sharing your love with our children on the mountain; we don't have enough
words to describe what it means to us to have you as a part of this ministry!
Early next year, we will put the roof on the
hall, and during the team's stay, we will start on the foundations of the
next house. We would like to wish you a blessed
Christmas, filled with God's love. May your 2006 be a prosperous and
healthy one, and may grace and peace be yours. Enjoy celebrating
Christ's birth with your loved ones. We
are looking forward to experience more of God's miracles in 2006!! Please keep on praying with us. |
