From the Servant’s Desk:

2Kings 4:1-7

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”
So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.  And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out.  Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”
And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.  Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”

What a great month I experienced this past May:
*My brother, Wim van Rensburg, from Changing Tomorrow Children’s Foundation, South Africa traveled to America.
*We spent a week at Deal’s Gap.
*Attended the East Coast Calvary Chapel Pastor’s Conference at Sandy Cove MD.   Ever been involved in Praise and Worship with 850 men?  That’s a story unto itself, just amazing!
*I also accompanied Wim to speak at several local churches and a local Christian TV station.

God opened some really thick doors!

One of the speakers at the Pastor’s Conference taught from 2Kings 4.  About how we’re all empty vessels when we come to The Lord.  Faith in God and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit fill those vessels to overflowing.

The believer can do anything with faith.  We tend to limit ourselves to our human abilities and stop there.  When Wim, Marvin and I were talking about Wim needing to come to America last November while visiting South Africa, none of us had a clue how to pull it off.  We prayed that God would provide and show us a way.  Six months later, Wim was riding one of Bob Brown’s bikes at Deal’s Gap, NC and eventually making presentations at churches on both the East and West coasts.

I’ve stopped wondering at God’s working in my life, all the interesting twists and turns.  I now just say to myself: “Wow!  OK, Lord, you want me to go that way; I’m going that way.”

Jesus Christ is looking to fill us all with His love and direction.  All we have to do is submit and trust in Him through faith.  Easier said, I know, but it works.

Keep your heart with Jesus.  Focus on your purpose spinning around on this ball of dust we call Earth.  I can’t believe that God would create a human being to breathe, eat, sleep and die after seventy-odd years for no reason.  Everyone has a purpose.  Your job is to listen for the instructions, trust in Him and step out in faith.

God bless

 2007 Deals Gap Rally

The 2007 Deal’s Gap Rally is history.  Initially, a rally fraught with organizational anxiety turned out to be the best Gap experience for me in six trips to the fabled sport bike Mecca of the East.

Excellent weather, local roads in tip-top condition, free riding lessons, great daily Bible studies and fellowship, all contributed to most people regretting having to pack up and go home.  If you passed on this year’s rally, you missed a good one.  Make plans for next year.

Kudos to Scott Journigan, Bob Brown, Art Lohman and all the other members that helped make the 2007 Deal’s Gap experience memorable.

From Bob Brown
Where we are so far:

Thursday night we will be showing Crash Science at my place and I will order some pizza. I have no idea how many will show up, but all are welcome. My guess is that it will be the usual suspects. We would love to have anyone else join us who would like to get to know some of the other members in a more causal setting.

Friday will be a riding school day. So far we will have instruction on cornering, hard braking, and learning how to break down and read your line in the corners. I am waiting for a response from WheelzNorth. I am hoping to have some of their riders show up and offer instruction in the fine art of stunting. I have still yet to have a local church firmed up for a location. The idea is to coordinate with a local youth group and put together a program for them to hear some testimony from some Christian men who wear the body armor of the Holy Spirit, along with their riding leathers.
Friday evening will be dinner and fellowship at the Coach Stop Inn

Saturday will be our ride day with different groups for different skill levels, all riding to the same location. Riders from the local forum boards and riders from the local area churches are invited to join us for our ride. Art will be speaking after lunch and I will let him fill in the details.

Saturday evening is a time to share our day’s experience with our brothers in Christ and share a meal together.

Early Sunday morning Art will be doing a short service and we will head home.

The plans may change, the goal of the summer ride will not. It is a chance to get know some of your brothers in Christ, it is a chance to talk about the things that are close to your heart and to be able to gain some life experience from other Christians. It is about strengthening your walk with Christ and building up your armor to help you face the world. It will be a time to become a better rider, have a blast on some of the best roads in the country, and just have a fun weekend. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.

A side note; this rally is designed for someone who may be on the fence, it is for the non-believer, it is even for the person who may scoff at our faith in Christ. All are welcome, all have been invited. Please feel free to invite any of your riding friends to attend; this is, after all, a fun Christian rally. Bob

From Wim van Rensburg

I am back and had a truly awesome time in the USA. First off I would like to thank Marvin and Kim, Brian and Beverly and Chris and Mary for hosting me and spoiling me.... Marvin said I was going to gain 5 pounds... and I did...now I have to work it off again!!

God blessed us wherever I went and all the churches and organizations who opened their doors to us became close friends.  I met the most awesome people in this last month. Some I had corresponded with and others I met for the first time, and in all honesty I can say that they were all,  ten times more special in person. God has truly hooked us up with really special people and I thank Him for that.

In North Carolina with Marvin, we ate for a place in the first team...and it was GOOD!! From collards to barbecue (something you eat...NOT do!!) to biscuits and gravy and buffet style places that HAD to take a loss on us. Then I went flying with John and ate the best choc-chip cookies in the world (and got my very own batch which I refused to share.... not Christian-like....but live with it).

From there we had a break, we went to the CSBA rally at Deals Gap, Robbinsville, NC for 3 glorious days of riding motorcycles over the twistiest roads ever. And once again I met the nicest people! I mean, who in his right mind would give his motorcycle to an African for 3 days to use and abuse as he wishes.... where I come from that bike will be stripped for parts and sold before the end of business, the first day!! I had the opportunity to hang out with fellow Christian brothers and share with them what we do, but also had the opportunity to see them do what they do, witness to non-believing bikers. Combining everything we hold dear like this,  is so much fun it should be illegal.

Then I was off to Brian in Allentown and we started out with a few days at a Pastor's conference. Having goose bumps is praise and worshipping with 850 other pastors...one word...awesome!! While there,  I had to face my biggest fear of the trip: TELEVISION!! Brian set us up for a 30 minute interview on Channel 60, and God, once again, blessed me with the words and it went extremely well.

I flew to LA for a very quick in and out. I went motorcycling to Malibu, felt out of place in Venice beach (but took loads of pictures like a real tourist!!), ate at Duke's (funny how much food is mentioned in this newsletter) and had one too many Krispy Kreme's (see, food again).

God also allowed us to talk to so many people, churches and organizations about the ministry that I stopped counting. We were able to do radio and TV, meet important people over breakfast, and all this allowed me to share with people that He is supplying the needs over here. To His glory, our children are fed, clothed and educated. God is truly the provider.

My thanks to everyone who made this possible and added to making this trip unforgettable.

I love you all

Wim

PS   Mentionable memories:

Pigging out with Marvin, Kim's string beans, Virginia's choc-chip cookies, flying with John, Pastor Johnny Barber's word confirming things of the future, racing the curves at Deals Gap, Beverly's Rhubarb crumble, early morning coffee in LA while chatting to Hylien on Skype.

Meeting so many incredible people in such a short time.

Not A Real “News” Story Here

Received the accompanying photo from Tiffany McCumber  (CSBA #450) with a request for some stickers.  I couldn’t resist posting up her pink sport bike.

Never dreamed I’d ever be typing these words, but…Tiffany:

You go girl!

From Changing Tomorrow Children’s Foundation, June 2007

Comfort, Food and Warm Clothes!

As we got to the middle of May we were assaulted by a very angry cold front, temperatures plummeted to -8 to -10’C at night with the relentless winds making life really nasty in Leratong! BUT! God has supplied! Through our friends at Qwa-Qwa Cash and Carry, Spar Harrismith and Louis Market we are able to make sure nobody in our village went hungry! Through clothing donations from our visitors from Canada and various other people we were able to make sure that all the children had shoes, socks and warm jackets! Nicole also went to the trouble of making winter hats to ALL the children at the Care Centre!  Thank you to everybody that helped for being the hands of Jesus to these people!

 Bernard

It has only been a little over two months since I got here, and I can already begin to track the progress of the kids at the Care Center.  Children who once mumbled when we did counting now call out in loud voices, “One!  Two!  Three!”  Some are beginning to recognize that the shape of a number matches the amount that is set before them—they are so sharp!

We just finished a big Animals lesson series, covering farm animals, wild animals, pets, and birds.  One of the best activities was turning them into cats—they were crawling around meowing, pretending to strut and preen.  Their imaginations are starting to take off, and I am continually amazed.  We have been doing minor daily activities on numbers, shapes, and colors—next on the docket, a two-week full lesson on shapes!

Please pray with us for Mcaffee, our builder whose wife and unborn baby passed away last Tuesday.

Also pray with us for his health as he has been diagnosed with AIDS and in this last week, raw sores covering his face and body became visible. We were told that in many cases this is a sign of AIDS in an advanced stage.

It is a stark reality the people here live with and people passing away through the effects of AIDS has become so part of daily life. On the mountain with less than 400 people, there is at least one funeral a week, mostly children of the people living there. It is sad when parents start outliving their children.

God Bless

Visit the CTCF website to learn more about Wim’s vision for the kids of QwaQwa at http://www.breakthrough-ministries.com/ and/or http://www.changingtomorrow.net

If you can, talk to your pastor or the director of missions for your home church.  Give them the CTCF web link.  Ask them to consider helping or better yet, plan a mission trip to South Africa.  I’d be more than happy to provide the details. Email me at brianp@christiansportbike.com

$25.00 a month would make a huge difference in the lives of kids who pretty much have nothing.

Money

Here’s what happens with your dues.

  1. $2.00 (10%) of every $20.00 member dues payment is sent to Changing Tomorrow Children’s Foundation in Africa.
  2. CSBA “gear”, i.e., T-Shirts, stickers, patches and banners - not much of an annual expense as there’s a relatively small demand for T-Shirts and stickers.
  3. Bibles and the shipping costs - this expense is usually taken care of by the CSBA annual Run For The Word.
  4. There are miscellaneous expenses incurred, i.e., postage, and infrequent expenses incurred to organize and run a rally.
  5. Annual donation to CSB Racing - the board had approved of a donation in both 2005 and 2006 for water bottles to be distributed at race events.  We also purchased a pop-up tent in 2006 for CSB Racing to be used at events (we own the tent).

Our expenses as a large organization are low.  There are no salaries, rent, equipment or monthly bills of any kind, except for the monthly bank fee of the CSBA checking account.  No CSBA funds are used for board members to attend events.  Our website is managed by an individual who donates his time and expertise.

The bottom line:  Your board of directors is a tight fisted group.  We do our best to use your dues money to further the work of spreading The Good News of Jesus Christ.
