On Saturday, December 5th, the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Christian Sport Bike Association will be having it’s final scheduled ride of the year - our December Monthly Ride - The “Berks County Blitz”. We will be meeting at the Starlight Diner in Fogelsville for breakfast around 8am and the ride plans to depart at 9:15am, so please be ready. Late comers might get left, so don't be late!

The "Berks County Blitz" will start between 9:15-9:30am and will be a relatively short ride. We stay close to home but still cover some very nice roads. Our lunch stop is Exeter Family Restaurant in Reading. Come out and enjoy the roads with us. Remember all our riders are required to wear their protective gear and select their riding group (see below for details).

All bikes and beliefs are welcome, please let us know if you or any friends are coming (it's ok to forward them invites). Please ensure however that you and any friends both read and comply with our ride policy, www.pacsba.com/csba-ride-policy. Also please come to the diner with a FULL TANK OF GAS. We will not be making additional stops during the rides - just the scheduled stops. There are two gas stations on either side of route 100 near the diner, so please fuel up before the ride. Thanks!

Lastly, please if you decide to join us for the day, we ask that you select a pace and group in which you desire to ride (below on pinned post) to start the day out with - you can always change your group later - it’s just to help us assign you a ride leader and group to get the day started off right. Thanks again!

The event will be subject to weather, so make sure you check back prior to ride day. We hope you can make it… Lets Ride!

CSBA Ride Report – Berks County Blitz December 5, 2015

We give thanks to God for his wisdom and the ability to serve and be appreciated….
Brrrr – it was the start to a wonderful day of riding, but there was a price to pay upfront – and that was a cold blustery morning and ride in. Before the day even started we had two riders go down on what was slippery “black ice” pavement. Failure to launch from our Philly Crew due to a down rider kept them local, and the other rider did his impersonation of a spinning top when he hit a patch coming out of the fuel stop before reporting for duty at our morning meet-up. Luckily both riders were ok.

Among the ranks for the ride today were Kairi, Rusty, Rick, Mark, Steve, John and Jim. Nelson and his girls along with Mike & Nicole (and family) came out to enjoy breakfast with us. Breakfast was really yummy!
After sharing the rules of the road, we reviewed the route with our experts (Rusty and Jim did their homework) and was decided to tag them in, and let them lead the team while I would hold up the rear and provide sweep duties (what a nice change).

This route had a lot of decreasing sweeping apex turns that were rapid-fire, so one needed to be very aware and paying attention. The pace was brisk (as usual) and unfortunately the bell tolled for one of our riders that misjudged one of those turns and went off the road. The good news was he kept his cool and just plowed the bike into tall grass, eventually laying it down and taking a hit on the plastics. We quickly got him straighten out and moved to high ground to evaluate the damage. He was able to ride the bike under it’s own power back home. He later reported in that he was home and safe sound right around the time we arrived to our lunch destination. Other than that, we had no other incidents to report and absolutely great weather once the sun fully came up and charged the day. With 7 of us riding tight formation, we covered our route in business mode, while taking in the lovely landscape.

Our lunch spot (Exeter Family Restaurant) was especially fun since they are known for their wonderful soups and grand salad bar. We talked racing shop and debated on several topics – a typical afternoon.

We received the word and then mounted up for part 2. Steve had to pull out, so the afternoon saw Russ lead an alternate route, which gave grand views across the valley from awesome evaluation (hopefully pictures posted later will show that detail). As usual, we enjoyed the day with our friends.

Today’s message was teaching us how to gain “Rest for the Weary…” - Give it a read below. I take this time to thank everyone for your participation, your involvement and your giving attitudes on all our events in 2015. We’ve crafted these rides for you, our riders, to enjoy the roads with us. We’re promoting a fellowship and an environment in which we want you to come and enjoy your love with others that share your passion of riding.

Well this one is for the books and finishes out the year for us. For more great pictures of this event, visit the face book event page for our “Berks County Blitz” Ride here:

Scripture for Berks County Blitz - December 5th, 2015

REST FOR THE WEARY…

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”
MATTHEW 11:28

As we enter the final weeks of 2015, we look back to recap our journey and realize we’ve covered a lot of ground. We gave thanks for all things and people important to us at Thanksgiving, and now we’re facing our end of year Mega Holiday: Christmas! The holidays can be exhausting with so much to do and so little time to do it in.

Few people know how to rest these days. Even on vacation, many people rush to cram in as much as they can before returning to their jobs, where they spend twice as much energy catching up on the work and mail that piled up in their absence. Many of us need vacations just to rest from our vacations! Perhaps, we have been looking for rest in the wrong places…

Jesus said, “Come to Me…. and I will give you rest.” (MATTHEW 11:28). Like peace, rest and contentment can be found only in one place, from one source, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gives us the ultimate rest, the confidence we need in all things, and the escape of the frustrations and chaos of the world around us. Rest in Him and don’t worry about what lies ahead. Jesus Christ has already taken care of our tomorrows.

Are you tired and feeling frustrated, worried or burdened with too many tasks and not enough time? God intended for us to help each other – don’t burden yourself with all the weight of everything – God is there to help (through others) to lighten the load. Your Brothers and Sisters are here with you and for you - seek them out as we’re always stronger together than apart. Of course, my door is also always open - Blessings!
