July Central PA chapter ride was created by RkTec
Hello all,

We will be going on a ride to Bedford county on July 11th. I encourage everyone to come out, some of the roads on this route are the best in PA, in my humble opinion. We will be having breakfast at the Marysville All American Diner around 8am with kickstands up at 9:15am. We will be having lunch on the ride and ending our ride near Shippensburg, PA. If you are coming please post up below,

Here is our ride policy:

Ride Report

The day began well, the sun was out with a bit of clouds but not too bad. It would be a great day to ride, and it was. :D I met up with j-mac from the Eastern PA chapter and rode out to the Marysville All American Diner. We stopped for gas on the way out and made it early. Once we got there we saw other Eastern PA chapter members there joining us since last weeks' ride for them was rained out. It was good to see blueninja, Luis, Kairi, and Ian from that chapter as well, join andyr and myself. A few ate before they got there and so just 5 of us went into eat. We learned about tapas style of eating dinner and the positive aspects of that. We also chatted about life, bikes and God. After our delicious breakfast we went outside and had a brief riders' meeting. Lunch had not been determined on the recon, so we would pick a spot on the way. Once we got outside of town we had a couple of sweepers but we were frequently behind slow vehicles, oh well. Once we got out in open country, andyr took the lead through the sweepers and straights. We then got up and over some ridges, which was big fun, 8-) and then stopped at Raystown lake to get some pics, gas, and discuss lunch options. Luis saw his next boat purchase while we were there getting refueled. We found a Best Way pizza in the town of Everett for lunch where they make a giant pizza with 28 slices! Wow, we didn't thing it would be THAT big. After lunch we gathered around for a quick sharing of the Word and a group shot. After that we made our way to some of the nicest section of road in PA. If you like twisty roads, you have to come out next year for this ride, because this road is great. No, I am not sharing the road. :P  After that we turned north and crossed some more ridges again, big fun! After a couple of wrong turns, we got onto I-81 for our slab home. It was fun to ride with my Eastern PA chapter brothers, thanks for the support! I hope to see you again soon. It was a great ride, hopefully we will have some more folk join us for the fun. The Scriptures will be posted below, with pictures following. I hope to see you all this week at the Rally or next month,

This month we continue in our biblical manhood series with principle #3, a real man leads courageously. To review, principle #1 was to reject passivity and principle #2 was to accept responsibility. Our first Scripture is I Corinthians 11:2-3 which says: 2 I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. 3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Here we see that the man is to head the family as Christ heads the church. That doesn't mean we treat our wives as doormats or be rude, boorish slugs; but instead we are to imitate Christ who came to serve not be served (Mark 10:45- 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” ) We are to be out in front leading our families where God is calling us to go and putting our families needs before our own. We see how NOT to do this when Adam in the Garden failed to lead and did not confront the serpent when he came to tempt Eve. A quote I read recently said, " Leadership demands that men have the courage to master their passions and bridle themselves with the principle of truth." Whatever passions that are a temptation for you, in order for you to lead, you need to master them through the strength that God provides. Once you have become free from the control of sinful tendencies you are to submit to Christ to follow the principles and path He has for you. Your family is watching you to follow your example.

The next passage of Scripture is Matthew 4:1-10 which says: "4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]” 7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]” 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]” I have included the footnotes below so you can see the Scripture references.

Footnotes:
[a] Matthew 4:1 The Greek for tempted can also mean tested.
Matthew 4:4 Deut. 8:3
[c] Matthew 4:6 Psalm 91:11,12
[d] Matthew 4:7 Deut. 6:16
[e] Matthew 4:10 Deut. 6:13

We can see how differently Jesus responds to the temptation from the Devil, He doesn't mince words and speaks straight from the Scriptures. He finally commands satan, "away from me" showing us an example to follow. You see, even though Jesus' emotions may have yearned for what was offered, His will was resolute. His mind was made up, and so should ours when temptation comes our way. One more quote, "The courage to lead with truth rather than to surrender to feelings always separates the men from the boys." So, lead courageously and be an example for others to follow.
