The day dawned bright and clear with a few stray clouds around in the sky. And, it was chilly with the temperature around 59 degrees F. I got a late start leaving from my house waiting for two guys that would ride out with me to the breakfast stop. We did go out and took a different route, 15 miles longer than the last route, but a bit more twisty. :) We stopped for fuel on the way out and got there about 20 minutes late. One rider was already inside and was just getting his food when we arrived. We ordered our food and got caught up on each other's jobs and lives. We found out that two riders scheduled to come couldn't make it, missed you redline and andyr. :( We went outside, discussed the rules for the ride and fueled up Rusty's bike. He could only get about 100 miles per tank, so we stopped for fuel regularly. We rode about 10 miles on the highway seeing a replica of the statue of liberty. Once we got off the highway we were in the twisties climbing a high ridge. On this road we saw a small herd of bison, about 6-7, and a group of 5 tractor trailers from the Army going the other direction that we were travelling. This road wasn't bad but not memorable, but it got us up to where we wanted to go and had some decent sweeping turns in it.

Our next road was really nice and although we had to go around a detour it was quite enjoyable. It had elevation changes, hairpin turns, chicanes, and sweeping turns. We took a side route off of this and it was okay, but it lead us to a really nice road which we will see more of next year. :) This got us to our lunch stop in the town of Pine Grove, Buddy's Log Cabin Family Restaurant. The food was good, as well as the service, but the bathroom was small. We will keep going there, it was worth the stop because they also have ice cream! After lunch we went less than a mile down the street and made a right onto a fun little road the cut off part of the town and got us toward twisty roads once again. We turned on this delightfully twisty road, and I let J-mac take the lead. He left me like a bad habit. We all caught up again at the end of the road and made a left onto a poker straight road that we made distance in good time. We made a right onto a brand new road that was pretty good, at a stop sign we made a wrong turn and we were off route and lost. For people that don't like being lost that have GPS this doesn't happen to you. I don't use a GPS and I don't mind getting lost on occasion because you find great roads, like we did this day. We found a sweet road that will be included in next year's route when we come here. Oh, did I mention we all were low and fuel? Yeah, that got things a bit dicey when you are out in the boondocks. That is all part of the adventure on a CSBA ride. We eventually did get fuel and got back on our way. We all figured out our way home and shook hands and said our goodbyes. As we would split off we would toot the horn and wave. Anyway, getting back to the ride, we went back on a road we did before, though this time we did it in the opposite direction. I let J-mac lead again and I kept up with him, maybe because part way through we got stuck behind a volvo. ;) After Kairi split off, myself and Rusty took turns leading through various back roads on the way home. It was a great ride, thanks to all who came out. I can't wait for next month's ride, stay safe.

This month we finished off our series on biblical manhood. The four principles were:
A real man
1. rejects passivity
2. accepts responsibility
3. leads courageously
4. expects the greater reward

A man of God has three responsibilities:

1. a will to obey
2. a work to do
3. a woman to love

We should embrace these because they will bring us an eternal reward. In Hebrews 12: 1-3 it says: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. See how this passage said, "the joy set before Him"? It is referring to how Jesus knew His actions would bring a reward when He returned to Heaven. We see another example in Hebrews 112:24-6- 24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. Again, we see that Moses was looking to his eternal reward and not being focused on acclaim in this life. Finally, in I Timothy 4:8-10 is says- 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe. "Godliness has value for all things", that is a powerful saying. We are created to work for reward and recognition. Let us strive not for the world's reward, but for God's and His recognition. Work toward and expect the Greater Reward! I will post pictures soon. :)
